Our NEW All Natural Sunscreen is enriched with:
The largest human organ is your skin, and from head to toe it is important that you preserve and protect this precious organ.
TITANIUM DIOXIDE AND ZINC OXIDE--These active ingredients in SPF sunscreen lotions are natural minerals derived from clay and beach sand deposits; they are not harsh synthetically-produced chemicals. Both are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as sunscreens. Zinc oxide has been used worldwide for over 75 years as a safe blocking agent to prevent excessive sun exposure. Unlike chemical sunscreens that absorb ultraviolet light, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide remain on the skin to reflect and scatter both UVA and UVB rays away from the body. This forms a physical barrier shield without irritating or clogging the pores. The natural mineral sunblock, on certain skin types when applied heavily, may leave a mild white appearance.
As with all sunscreen lotions, re-apply frequently and after swimming, perspiring, or towel-drying. If you notice any flaking or crumbling after application, you may have applied the lotion too heavily and this is excess lotion that can be brushed off... the UV protection is still there.
For best results, apply in moderate amounts so it will rub in well. It's also been noticed that drier skin causes more possibility of flakiness as the oils in the lotion are absorbed quickly.
The titanium dioxide and zinc oxide used is micronized, and allows our sunscreen lotions to be more cosmetically appealing compared to coarser particles. The protection is less visible, yet remains on the skin's surface.
SUNFLOWER OIL--Is a superior moisturizer with unusually high amounts of Vitamins A, D and E. It's highly recommended to treat dry, weathered, aged, and damaged skin.
COCONUT OIL--Used by the islanders through the centuries to protect and moisturize their skin while aiding in acquiring glorious, glowing skin. It is mild and gentle for those with skin sensitivities
GLYCERIN--Used as an emollient, glycerin shores up the skin's natural protection by attracting just the right amount of water to maintain the skin's homeostasis. There is also research indicating that the presence of glycerin in the intercellular layer helps other skin lipids do their jobs better.
GREEN TEA EXTRACT--According to researchers at Case Western Reserve University and the dermatologist who headed the study, green tea extract is effective in reducing sunburn. More than 20 studies have indicated that it may prevent some cancers including those of the skin. Green Tea is a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals from UV radiation and helps protect skin cells.
JOJOBA OIL--A non-fragrant natural emollient with excellent moisturizer and skin conditioning properties.
VITAMIN E--offers antioxidant protection, which may reduce cancer risk, slows cell damage, and provides anticarcinogenic protection. Also acts as a natural preservative.
VITAMIN A--keeps skin cells healthy, moist, and resistant to cell damage. Applied topically may prevent skin cancers. Vitamin A derivatives are used to treat skin disorders such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, and to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and reverse the effects of sun damage on the skin.
SHEA BUTTER--A natural plant lipid that is used as both a thickener and an emulsifier. Also has effective moisturizing and skin protecting characteristics.
EUCALYPTUS OIL--Is a pore opener. It is an essential oil that when mixed with other oils is easily absorbed by the skin and assists other oils to likewise be absorbed, thus aiding in the moisturizing process. It is also well-known as a natural insect repellent.
Our sunscreen is water resistant, hypoallergenic, and does not contain fragrances, chemical preservatives (parabens) or emulsifiers.
A skin condition called Contact Dermatitus results in 5.7 million doctor visits per year in the USA. Sunscreen allergies are very common when using traditional chemical products. Our sunscreen is formulated and manufactured under strict guidelines in a FDA-approved facility, and MADE IN THE USA!
Be sure to shake all products well prior to use, since settling of some of the ingredients is normal.
Our perfect blend of ingredients results in a pleasant-smelling product without the addition of chemical fragrances.
You will not find a quality sunscreen like this in the store! High quality and highly concentrated like the rest of the Jordan Essentials family of products.

May is national Skin Cancer Awarness Month

1.3 million people will develop skin cancer this year.

There are three major forms of skin cancer:
1. BASAL CELL CARCINOMA is the most common form of skin cancer. It occurs most frequently in people who spend a great deal of time outdoors and primarily produces lesions on the head and neck
2. SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA is the second most common skin cancer. It primarily affects people who sunburn easily, tan poorly, and have blue eyes and red or blonde hair.
3. MALIGNANT MELANOMA is the most rare form of skin cancer but is the most deadly. It affects the cells, which produce melanin, and seems to be more prevalent among city-dwellers than among people who work out-of-doors. It does not necessarily occur on sun-exposed areas of the body and is thought to be linked to brief, intense periods of sun exposure and a history of severe sunburn in childhood or adolescence.

So what should you do to protect yourself as much as possible against these cancers? Summarizing current research, the following recommendations appear reasonable:
DO NOT rely on the use of sunscreens alone to protect you against skin cancer.
DO NOT try to get a tan by visiting a tanning studio. The rays from their UV lamps are extremely harmful and the tan produced does not have the protective effect of a sunlight-induced tan.
DO try to develop a moderate natural suntan unless you have extremely sensitive skin and burn easily. Regular and moderate unprotected sun exposure in the early morning or late afternoon will help maintain a protective tan and keep your Vitamin D stores at an optimum level.
DO wear protective clothing and a wide-brimmed hat when you are outside. Avoid sun exposure between 10 AM and 3 PM if at all possible. Remember that UV rays, particularly UVA, are present even on cloudy days.
DO wear sunglasses that filter out 100% of the ultraviolet light to protect yourself against the development of cataracts.
DO remember that sunlight is strongly reflected from sand, snow, ice, and concrete and can increase your direct sunlight exposure by 10 to 50%.
DO make sure to supplement your diet with antioxidants. Dr. Abram Hoffer in Victoria, Canada recommends that Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Selenium be used as protection against the damages of excessive ultraviolet radiation.
DO cut down on the fat in your diet. Recent research has shown that patients with non-melanoma skin cancers can reduce their risk of developing additional actinic keratoses (precursors to skin cancer) by switching to a low fat diet (25).
Do use a physical sunscreen not a chemical sunscreen.

Sunscreens are designed to protect against sunburn (UVB rays) and UVA rays. They come in two forms:
1. CHEMICAL SUNSCREENS contain chemicals such as benzophenone or oxybenzone (benzophenone-3) as the active ingredient. They prevent sunburn by absorbing the ultraviolet (UVB) rays.
2. PHYSICAL SUNSCREENS contain inert minerals such as titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, or talc and work by reflecting the ultraviolet (UVA and UVB) rays away from the skin.
